A good description of the journey. I never thought of it in terms of climbing back down a mountain to climb back up a new person, learning from your mistakes and pain. Thanks for sharing!
Evan... This resonated with me! I feel the frustration & the realisation & the growth in my bones. The humbling & the standing tall & facing that mountain... Again. Thank you for sharing a part of your journey & what you've learnt, you put into words what I've experienced yet didn't have the words for.
“There is no light at the end of the tunnel. I am the light.” Thanks for sharing this,Evan. This was so beautiful and resonating. Something that we all need to know to keep moving.
Evan, that is the most resonant sharing I’ve read in years. I didn’t have the words for it because I was unclear about what that place is, yet sensing it’s truth. As you write It’s about starting again, not starting over. A different traveller this time, with a wider experience pointless destinations, painful stumbles and wise actions not taken. Knowing the difference between empowering reflection and self-critical rumination. Then to that quote from Morpheus in your other writing on this platform. Knowing what must be done and actually doing it. Letting go of the old certainties of a flawed plan and setting out with the fabled beginners mind on a different path. A path of exploration. Being responsive to the challenges and opportunities in the now. Planting your garden today. Working and playing with what is real right now. It might even be a different mountain, but it’s definitely a different path. An adventure in discovery and growth instead of a punishing adherence to a prescriptive, ill-fitting plan. Conscious choice of actions combined with organic unfolding. Becoming and giving rather than arriving and getting. Maybe that’s what we all learn in our own time… or we don’t. Worth exploring though. Thank you for sharing your honesty. May this next journey be even more fruitful.
It’s refreshing to know there’s likeminded people who see the mountain and the process - the self reflection is paramount to recognizing lessons learned, having gratitude, what’s packing too much weight, having hope for what’s to come. Pack light, enjoy the journey.

And there it is…the true feelings of defeat, denial and hope❤️
Keep writing, and speaking, it is your gift.
