I came across this song today, and once I got into the lyrics, I realized there was a great message in there. The things he has to say, while a little bit more “cutting” than I would voice, are things that I have thought at many points. We have been bred by society to think, act, and do things a certain way. This song is all about how a lot of people are afraid to be 100% authentic, real…whatever you want to call it. This song brings me into what I want to talk about today….and what has been on my mind ever since I heard it.

Whatever you want in this life is going to take lots of hard work. There is no easy way, there are no shortcuts…you have to decide what it is you want, and then understand the sacrifices you have to make. It’s not going to be easy, but that’s the point. Because if it was easy, then everyone would be successful. I remember a little while back thinking about all of the trouble I was going through at that point in time, but then it clicked…if it is hard right now, I must be getting really close. That really is the only piece of advice I give to people when they are going through the trials and obstacles of getting to where they want to be. “Are you giving it all you got?” If the answer is yes, then I tell them they are getting close. It is true, because you have to go through all the battling to get to where you want to get. You have to earn it. There is no free ride. There is no pass go collect $200. You have to play every single space on the board. And why would you want it any other way? I would like to know how to be successful rather than having it given to me. Because when you get lucky or when it is given to you, you have no idea how to replicate it.

Put on your business socks and get down to work. I have been waking up at 5:30 am during the week, gym at 6:30, home…put on a shirt and tie…and getting to work. I am officially an entrepreneur…and am going into a venture that I am incredibly excited about. And you know what? Doing what I am doing is the most real thing I can be: me
