Do I live in a friendly or hostile universe?

Albert Einstein said that was the most fundamental question humans have to answer for themselves.

What type of world do you decide to live in?

I know personally that I am much happier when I am living in a world that is full of love and passion rather than disgust and hatred. Of course I flip flop sometimes, but its important that you remember what you are set out to do.

Sure if you want to live in the negative type of world that is your choice, but just understand the consequences of that decision and don’t blame it on anyone else. We all have a choice to do what we wish to do with our lives.

Some may say “but I am stuck” and when I hear that…I often challenge that belief. Here are the 4 things I do (advice given by a speaker…but I totally forget his name) when I need to make a change in my life.

1. I’ve Had it: Enough is enough. I am tired of this crap. This is what I will do and dammit if I have to cry to succeed I will. Yesterday I was at work and there was this big slice of pizza sitting right in front of me in a box.

I opened the box…looked at it…closed the box and slammed my fist down on the table. DAMNIT I AM NOT GOING TO EAT THAT!

Sometimes you have to do things that are out of your regular actions to change. Hell I have never done that before, but it worked. So, maybe if that situation happens again I will do that again.

2. Decision: Make decisions that you need to make.

The day that you decide what you will do with your life is one of the most inspirational days of your life. I love writing down on a piece of paper all of the things I have to make decisions about and then prioritize / categorize them.

3. Desire: Simply put…how freaking bad do you want it. On my whiteboard right next to my bed I have written “I will do whatever it takes.”

4. Resolve: Use the three most important words written below. I will and Until.

So what are the 3 most powerful words that you can use?

I will…and until.

Let me explain. The words I will empower you to do anything in your life. No more I wish, I want to, I would like to do this…it is only I will do it. It is important to realize that there is no good time to start something. If you keep putting it off, you will never make it. I used to do this with diets.

I will start tomorrow. Well tomorrow is never as good as it is today. One more thing, and this is off track a bit. If you are “starting a diet”…why not just use the words “I am going to eat healthier.” This is great for 2 reasons. 1. You don’t have to listen to people saying oh my god your dieting? 2. It can and will become something you fight against rather than making proactive strides towards eating healthy. Just my thoughts on that. So, I will is one of the most powerful words that you can use because you WILL do it. There is no maybe. No end failure. No, it is a process. Sure you will stumble along the way, maybe get the crap kicked out of you…but you get back up. Get back on your feet no matter what happens.

You hurt yourself, recover. You get dumped, you take time to improve upon yourself. You fail a test, you study harder. This is not a hard plan. Don’t let your emotions get the best of you because if you let that happen you will be lost in a sea that has an endless horizon. Trust me…I’ve been there. The second word is until. Until is incredibly important because you can say “I will try and try again UNTIL I accomplish this.” You see what I am saying here? If you attempt and attempt and attempt, eventually you will hit the nail on the head. It is just a law of averages.

Take down the walls. Welcome all types of experiences. I bought a Go Pro HD HERO video camera the other day. I told myself that this year would be the year of the challenge, and I plan on video taping all of it!I am absolutely thrilled with the quality it produces and the potential I have with creating lots of projects.

Embrace the numbers. The only way you can truly tell if you are improving is my attributing numbers to everything you are doing. I have recently started writing down every single set and rep I do and have a book overflowing with stats. The great thing about excel is that you can chart your progress out and really see how you are doing. This is absolutely fantastic because I can see exactly what I did the week before and try to beat it. Then, when you beat your best from the week before you feel on top of the world. There is that great sense of pride in yourself that you had the first time you accomplished your goals. I suggest you use this because it is really working for me at the moment.

Sometimes the negative side of you can take advantage of you. I use this song when I need to break out of something that’s really striking me. Never let anyone step all over you and take advantage of your love…even yourself. To those who haven’t read my writing before about the subject of thoughts and emotions…check a few posts back. Your thoughts and your emotions can plague you as much as they can help you. However, the best thing you can do is make a decision that you will win and to continue forward.

Never forget these words:

I will.

Until.
