The road of life twists and turns and no two directions are ever the same. Yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination. – Don Williams Jr.

I watched this really interesting video the other day about trying something for 30 days.

The argument was, you can try anything in the world for 30 days and test it out and see if you like it or not. It is just long enough to create a habit, and if you want to turn back, you have the ability to break it.

I find that there is nothing better in the world than a small vacation to try something new. I have worked my butt off in school for the past 12 weeks and now I am thrilled to have a mental vacation.

So, in great respect of the break, I am starting a 30 day journey, which will bring me to January 10, which will be the last day of the mini project I am embarking on.

The goal: eat as healthy as I possibly can for 30 days.

No fast food, no processed foods, nothing high in fat, no sugar, no caffeine.

I guess you can call it a cleanse, which it is, but its more of a mental cleanse for me. There are no reasons to be stressed out over break, just having fun and killing it!

Today, day 1 I am crashing the gym right after work and making Greg Plitt proud. This guys workouts have made me stronger than I ever have been before.

Then, I am going to a party with my friend Greg (not the same Greg) and having a great time. This past quarter was crazy because I really did sit down every single day, and without falter study my brains out.

I mapped out what I needed to do for the 12 weeks and went and did it.

So when I got to finals, I really didn’t have to study that much because I had been studying all quarter. That feeling was amazing.

I have this desktop picture which is one of the many that circulates every minute or so that is a picture of a big hand and says “You are the creator of your own destiny.”

It is challenges like the one I am doing right now and continuing to push myself to the next place which most relates personally for me. How can I do this differently?

Often of times we get stuck thinking that we have tried everything and there is nothing left to do…but we are far from the truth.

There is this old saying that goes, you know what you know, you know what you don’t know, and you don’t know what you don’t know.

That slice of the pie of you don’t know what you don’t know is gigantic. The slice of you know what you know is tiny.

Therefore, life is about constantly learning what is out there. A never-ending journey. I have never embarked on a journey of 100% healthy eating for 30 days.

Just like some people like to do documentaries about how screwed up your body can get from eating fast food for 30 days, I am going to try the opposite.

How healthy can you get in 30 days! I am going to take measurements, weight, body fat percentage and I will post here every single day how things are going and what is coming up for me.

Of course there will be cravings, but just like closing your eyes in the gym and when you think you cannot do any more reps pumping out an extra 5, you can smash through those cravings.

I am incredibly excited about this. So off we go. 30 days to a healthier more ripped body.

Recently my knee has been sore because I went for a 25 minute run the other day and it was just way too much.

The amazing thing about this though was that I found my current limit. Also, standing up at work for 7 hours a day really does make you sore!

No one probably notices that except for people who actually do it, but it takes some endurance.

The thing is, if you never push yourself to your limits, you will never know them. If you never know your limits, how can you get stronger? You can’t.

Now is the perfect time to start your journey.

Start it today!

It doesn’t have to be perfectly planned out.

Just give it your all and figure it out along the way.

Things will be great I promise you.

Today I start mine.

Here we go.
