Lets Get Personal

The Better Man Project is a personal life project I started at the beginning of last year in an effort to write down the things I was learning on a day to day basis. My vision is that “The world needs better men. This blog is simply about my journey to become a better man and the things I run into along the way.” Thank you guys for reading. I appreciate it a ton.

And If you really want to get to know me…here I am %inspirational quotes

My Life : Getting Personal

I am an avid fisherman, a lover of all sports, aspiring to be the next American novelist, a rock climber, a social media nerd, an inventor, obsessed with personal development, a reader of all genres, a collector of baseball cards, a developing bodybuilder, an expert organizer, an entrepreneur, a brand builder, a long-boarder, a slight Romantic, sometimes an insufferable insomniac, a photographer, an almost drowning surfer, an ambidextrous bowler, a killer snowboarder, a social Darwinist, an on-call rapper, an explorer, a mildly successful car rebuilder, a reincarnated Robin Hood, a certified IKEA furniture maker, an amateur long-range rifle marksman, obsessed with Pawn Stars, an iron-fisted negotiator, a creative thinker, a hard worker, a roofer, a salesman, a Lego architect, a self-proclaimed painter, a creative landscaper, a Renaissance man, and a deep philosophical thinker. I am best at inspiring others to act and have taken that passion and transformed it into a successful blogging career. My blog is called The Better Man Project and is focused around my journey towards becoming a better man and the lessons I learn along the way. Check it out at thebettermanprojects.wordpress.com. (Like I said, salesman.)

I have genetic entrepreneurial blood in my body and have followed my father’s footsteps in creating unique startup companies. I enjoy a good glass of scotch. I do not necessarily know where I am going, but I know who I am going to be when I get there. I am a man of unconditional love, fiery passion, and possess a never-quitting attitude. I never demand anything out of anyone that I do not demand of myself (honesty, loyalty, respect), and I strive every day to become a better person. I can grow a full beard and climb trees with ease…as long as the rope doesn’t break. I want to make a difference in this world and have people remember me as someone who went out with all engines burning. I will never own a mini-van…ever. I will have a baseball team full of children…and do not think that will effect my decision on the mini-van statement. I will have a white wrap-around porch. I can reel in a 200-lb halibut in 30 minutes. Spiders scare the hell out of me, and bell peppers make me gag. I have successfully cooked Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner for 12 by myself. I can bake an assortment of pies and can make little children laugh. I have successfully rebuilt pitchers mounds, to only then wreck them by pitching off of them. I successfully speared a fly to the door by throwing a Phillips screwdriver from 10 ft. away. I am a quote junkie and will randomly recite movie lines or motivational speeches to people who care or care less about what I am currently saying.

I am a slight pyromaniac… and have a record of close calls. I collect vinyls, and wish I had a record player. I often come up with nicknames for those close to me, and they usually resemble animals. If I had to be two movie stars, it would either be Clint Eastwood or Morgan Freeman. If they had to be under 50, Brad Pitt or Denzel Washington. I can iron my own shirts, do my own laundry, vacuum and clean floors with unparalled precision. My music playlists demand respect. I speak Japanese. I successfully discouraged packs of men from hitting on my sister in Europe…just by the sternness of my jaw. I have sold women’s yoga clothes, am part of the 500 club, and have broken many stereotypes about white men not being able to jump. I will be real with you no matter what, however I do have a tendency for witty remarks. I have been asked if I have bad days. I drink Guinness and whiskey, can pull off dance moves after stretching, and have been called a modern Churchill.

I am, 100%, me.

Love to hear from you!

  1. Hi, just stopped by to let you know what you have heard n number of times, the better man title is indeed interesting, world needs them, appreciate following my blog, thanks!

  2. Hey, I just wanted to stop in and say, I didn’t nominate you for an award!

    And I hate blog awards!

    :0)

But I do think you’re pretty awesome. And yes, the world needs better men, but as you mentioned, not for the world necessarily, but for themselves. And then? They can be gifts TO the world without even trying. And hey, women too!

Within 15 seconds of seeing your video, I could tell you knew your stuff photographically. I’m a photographer/artist (sometimes insufferable insomniac) too. (And writer. And author. And musician. And college student. And the list goes on…) And I live to laugh, mostly- not despite my tragedies- but because of them. None of us have permission to be depressed (long-term), right? I’m solid in that belief. And if we are? It’s because we choose it.

I would like to be friends. :0) And believe me when I say, I say that to very few people. I’m Birgitta; pleasure to meet you. :0)

      • Make you a deal. I don’t do Facebook (at all- can you believe it? In 2014?!): I burned out with that about 5 years ago- waaaaay too much drama. But- I WILL follow you, and I really can’t stand that term. I wish we could change the word from “followers” to “people” (and I’ve been trying for months), but if I was still at Facebook; I’d be on you like white on rice! :0) Great job with all of your promos, hard work, and all of the extra things that people have no idea you have to do- but it’s not easy! I give you mad props. (I’m way too lazy for that these days. Ha…)

Keep being a better man, and teaching others to do the same. Always. ;0) You rock.

  3. First off, thank you for following my blog. Second, wow, I would love to meet you! You sound fascinating, I think I just have to read that whole bio again because it’s just so very je ne sai quoi. Love it, and look forward to reading more of your blog.

  4. Evan you are amazing! Keep writing and dreaming and believing! You have a gift and you inspire me to be a better person! Thanks for being real!
    Linda Salvatore
    (MJ’s Mom) :)

  5. You restore my faith in the ‘young’, you really do. Ok, so I know you’re not a chicken, but 70 you ain’t. All I can add is that I’d like to shake your hand, were we not separated by the Pacific.

  6. WOW! I haven’t met a blogger like you yet… It seems that my comment is 1003 now… You are amazing with all your things. Your blog title hit me at first, yes the better men what we need in this world… :) Thank you for this super exciting blog that you share with us, and another Thank you for visiting my humble blogging world too. With my love, nia

  7. It looks like I am going to be comment 1002 on this page which speaks to the popularity of what you are doing here. Keep up the good work And thanks for the ‘follow’ of ‘Connecting the dots…’, I will happily reciprocate. All the best!

  8. You’re super busy, but I love your blog and nominated you for an award. Your blog was one of the first I followed, and instantly fell in love. I’ve shared your content on my fb, to my friends, and many others. Thank you! I have nominated you for the Sunshine Award! You can read about it here:http://wp.me/p3ICKp-gY

  9. Your blog’s name immediately caught my eye, because when I started my blog it was with a similar intent in mind. After a failed marriage I decided to become better not bitter and most of all enlightened. I am brutally honest but take every caution to deliver my views with a loving touch and NO JUDGEMENT. So, I have a record player but lost all my records in a move. Much as you believe we need better men, I believe we need more authentic women. I look forward to following your blog and reading while I drink a Guinness, because what else would a British girl drink :D

  10. Hi! Thank you for checking out my blog and deciding to include it in those that you follow! I appreciate the interest and support, and I am so glad that you found me so that I could find you. This is simply awesome, and I look forward to reading more!

  11. Evan,
I would like to express my thanks for this effort you have done. If your intent is to do a kind act for no other reason than to help another soul, your mission has been successful. When I searched the web for “How to become a better man” your site was the jackpot. Now my vision is clear and my quest has just begun. As you stated in one of your entries, there are no words that are adequate so I will just say thank you.

  12. It is appropriate time to make some plans for the longer term and it’s time to be happy. I have read this post and if I could I want to suggest you some fascinating issues or advice. Maybe you can write subsequent articles referring to this article. I wish to read more things about it!

  14. This is a great About me page. I have struggled with what to put on mine. Maybe a similar thing will this will fit well with the challenge I’m working on now as a part of my own Project, so wish me luck and watch for the ping :) Thanks for sharing all you have

  15. Hey Evan, absolutely awesome video!

  17. hey there!

Thank you for following my blog a few mths ago! I just wanna share with you that I have recently changed host (nearly died along the way :) ) and if you like, please come again to my blog and you can type in your email address as with the change in host from wordpress, new posts will not get delivered to your email address like the last time.

So if you like posts to get delivered to your email address like the past, you have to type in your email again. It only appears in your reader now, so if that works for you, then it is ok.

    thank you
    michelle

  18. I just came across your blog, and I must say that I’m fascinated with your writing and your project. I’m glad that my obsession with reading blogs written by interesting people has led me to yours. I can’t wait to read your posts!!

  19. Oh my gosh, I LOVE what you have going on over here. Thank you so much for following my blog and introducing me to yours! Can’t wait to dig through your content!
    Love,
    Sara

  20. Thanks for following my blog, you certainly have an interesting space here, and lots of positive ideas. I really believe ideas are real engines of change once shared and acted upon. Will be looking forward to reading more of your stuff

  21. Dude, I envy you – I wish I could grow a full beard! I have a third kid on the way so I think I might need to get a minivan. And the screwdriver thing, that’s amazing! Is it reproducible?
Look forward to reading your writings!

  22. You are a woman’s dream husband. I have the other dream husband. I spend my life trying to teach teens about how to be better students and better young men. Our work is cut out for us!

  23. Greetings Evan! I’ve just nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. I hope you’ll accept it :

    http://themotherroot.com/2013/06/08/i-got-the-very…-blogger-award/

Your blog is powerful, honest, refreshing and elevates the human condition, also it makes me smile because Lord knows that this world needs MORE better men! It takes real courage for a man to step up and actually admit that he is working on becoming better – if there were more of this in the world there would be fewer single ladies! I sincerely applaud you and wish it was legal to clone some of your “betterment” gene into the male species! Thank you for making the blogosphere a more beautiful place. I look forward to reading more of your posts and I wish you much success with your project and prosperity with your book!!

  24. “Renaissance man” sums you up very well…but “reincarnated robin hood” made me laugh, and won over all the other descriptors. Also, each of us has a little bit of a pyromaniac in us. But, if you’re curious, I’m writing a book, and in the prologue, a library is on fire. It might be of interest to the reading/scotch drinking/adventure having/ good hearted pyro in you. maybe.

  25. Thanks for following my blog. We are in 100% agreement that the world needs better men. Eff the world though, I’d settle for just better American men. What ever happened to Mark Twain? That there are at least of couple of us out there is enough to sustain me for the foreseeable future. Thanks for making the effort.

  26. Thanks for following my blog! I’m just getting started, but I’m really inspired by what you’ve created. Here goes my journey to be a better man!

  27. I appreciate what you’re going for, and admire the fact that you’ve created this project of sorts. Best of luck to you. Speaking from experience, the world needs more good men.

  28. Your self-description amounts to an infinitely more intriquing version of a Rorschach test — which elements will each of us react to, and what will we read into it? Me, I’m for the roofer, self-proclaimed painter and Scotch drinker (single malt I hope & do you drink it neat?). Oh, and… thank you for choosing to follow my blog

  29. Hi there. Just wanted to say thanks for the follow. And I think the world needs better men, kudos to you and the message you are living out. It’s a great project. Good luck with it. I’ll be sure to keep up with your progress!

  30. i’m not real sure what brought you to my lil piece of the wordpress world, but i certainly feel honored. thank you for the follow! wordpress has certainly opened up the world to me in some ways. i’m so happy to hear that there are others out there who are just as interested in bettering themselves, not necessarily for themselves but for others. i was beginning to worry i was the only one seeing certain things happening that shouldn’t and somethings not happening that should be. i’ve been reassured, via wordpress, i’m not alone in all that; thank God. have a great day :)

  31. Thanks for following my blog — your project/blog is *great* and I’m forwarding it to my sons (12 & 15, almost baby adult men). I look forward to reading more of your journey.

  32. Thanks for dropping in/following my blog. After checking out your CV (a Renaissance Man if ever there was one!), two questions arise: 1) what drew you to read/follow A Foot in Two Canoes? 2) If a Scaramouch ever reads your blog, has he any hope?

  33. Thanks for the follow on my blog. Hope you’ll enjoy future posts. I admire the focus and direction of your Better Man – much needed and long overdue. Marie :)

  34. Ha! May 10, 2013. I started my female-version of thebettermanprojects! Looking at your site I think, “Oh the places I can go!” Thanks for the inspiration. I DO have something useful to say thanks to failure and difficulty and defiant resilience. Looking forward to how a good man thinks.

  35. Thank you for taking time to visit and for the follow. You must be very busy and to manage to blog as well is inspirational. Let’s hear it for better men in our world. The youth of today need role models.. (:

  36. Hi, I do believe this is a great site. I stumbledupon it ;) I’m going to revisit yet again since I bookmarked it. Money and freedom is the best way to change, may you be rich and continue to help others.

  37. Hey Evan,

this is awesome.. your adventure of life is superb.

Thank u for stopping by my blog . I am sure you love to follow my blog , I will come u with more thought capital to help everyone make their dreams come true.

    Sincere gratitude to you.

    -Awesome AJ

  38. I know you have a ton of followers, and I was following you, until I “Xd” out of several blogs on my edit page, unintentionally. If you noticed, sorry. But I re followed. Thanks.

Thanks for the blog follow! And I also must say, if I wasn’t already married, you sound like a great guy already. Looking forward to reading about your journey. Best, A.

  43. Hi Evan, Thanks for being a follower to my blogs. I read some things about you and found myself laughing… When you say, ‘Spiders scare the hell out of me, and bell peppers make me gag…’ The first rings so true with me and the later part describes my husband’s distaste for bell peppers! You also had me looking up the word: pyromaniac. Great post. I shall return. Best to you!!!

  48. As one of my beloved followers, I would like to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude by sharing with you my exciting news of becoming a newly published author! And, of course, I wanted you to be among the very first to get a chance to read the rest of my debut novel, The Legacy of Blood, now available in e-book format.

(No worries if you don’t have a Kindle or other e-reader device, they have free ones to download on your computer. I went on Amazon and downloaded their “Kindle for PC” absolutely free! Love it! Here’s the link if you need it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/kindle/pc/download .)

Again, I want to thank you kindly for all the support. And you never know, as some of my followers have told me, you could say you’ve had a big hand in helping make Shelby Westland a household name! :P

  49. This is perhaps the best About Me page i’ve ever read. i feel like i practically know you! This is inspiring. Plus, i can’t help but relay that my eyes grew wide as i read on, because honestly i don’t think i’ve heard of someone who does as much as you do all at once. Thanks for following my blog! Hope to share the inspiration!

  50. This is a breath of fresh air INDEED!!! I am looking forward to more reading from this lovely little place. I also look forward to reblogging and sharing amongst my male friends:) Thanks so much for following ladyinthehouse.net. I am humbled by you!!

  51. Thanks for visiting Mused by Magdalene- I’m glad to have found your site and wish you good speed on your journey of self-discovery – its the best trip anyone can take. Namaste

  52. Yay! Awesome… love it all. Interesting connection here: growing up I was a competitive gymnast until I was 15…the day before a state competition I severely sprained my ankle practicing a floor routine. That was the turning moment in my life when I chose to follow my passion to write and create music. I could never be more grateful. I am who I am today because of it…

    Here I am… loving the dream ;-)

(and thank-you for following my blog)

  53. Thanks for following my blog!
Kudos to you for wanting to better yourself, I honestly think more people need to do that. I am now following you too because I love your idea and it really peeked my interest :)

  54. Thanks for the follow! I had a read through your bucket list, which made me laugh, and watched you video, and am now thinking I’ll have to pick up a copy of your book when I’ve got some spare money.
    Nice to meet you :)
    Lacey

  55. Thanks for the follow ! Love what you are doing and looking forward to staying tuned.

  56. Wow, I thought your bio was fascinating, then began reading the responses! Pretty cool! Thanks for rummaging around my blog. I hope that perhaps something in it fascinated or inspired you. Perhaps just gave you a smile! You don’t list cycling as something you may or can do… maybe I can entice you to try road cycling for a season.

  57. Hey thanks for the follow. I enjoyed your about, plan to enjoy many other of your entries. I don’t have a baseball team of kids but I have a basketball team if you count the parents. and all hail the avoidance of the minivan philosophy.

  58. thank you for the follow and wow. I’ll be back and read your blog from back to front or front to back whichever comes first. Your ‘about’ is a novel on its own. Thank you again and I look forward to read all of your words.

  59. Thanks for following! I’m just starting out, and it was really encouraging to see a person already looking at my writing. Your project is an inspiration, and I think more people need to follow in your footsteps. Best of luck!

    -Anna

You have the same mentality that I do: positive, bizarre, funny, active and hell-I’ll-give-that-a-shot!! I loved hearing of all the things you’ve done! Absolutely brain-bustingly brilliant!
Don’t you ever, EVER lose that spark!

  64. Hello Evan,

Thank you for following my blog! Your follow has led me back to yours and I love it! Thank you for that! Also I’m super happy to meet a fellow future American novelist, personal development junkie, organizational super star, entrepreneurial genius, a slight Romantic, an occasional insomniac, a certified IKEA furniture maker,a creative prodigy, a hard worker, a self-proclaimed painter and a philosophical mastermind. Just to list a few of our commonalities. Lol, have a wonderful day!

  65. Hi Evan. Thanks for visiting and following my blog. I think everyone in the world needs to work on trying to make themselves better rather than just focusing on what they perceive to be wrong with other people. And writing is definitely a powerful tool in this pursuit. All the best in your continuing journey.

  66. Hey Evan, thanks a lot for the follow! Not so much because I want you to listen to my stuff…I’m grateful because you following me led me to your blog ;) I like it very much, so keep going!

  67. Hi Evan,

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog! I see that our blogs are very similar in the fact that I want to see the young professionals of our generation reach out and actually change the world! There are a variety of ways to do this, but the most important is to harness who we were created to be and rest on the power that made us!

Thank you for inspiring men to become better…we need that every day…for ourselves and for others!

    Best,

    Ken Pearson

  68. Evan, you are inspirational. That word alone not only makes you a better man, but also empowers you to make the world a better place. I am gonna indulge in your blog posts with as much dedication as i can muster.

i love your style of writing- its crisp without being crude, poetic without being cloying, and perfect without being unbelievable.

I consider myself lucky having stumbled across your blog and look forward to reading more amazing stuff from you.

    Happy Writing!

  79. The above seems too real to believe since it’s written in absolute honesty.. seriously way to go man… you surely have your goals in place…. best of luck for all your future ventures… one thing that strikes out in your bio/ self description… is that… self confidence and belief you have in your self and I must say it’s seems to be very contagious… hope to learn some positive ways of living life… once again thank you for having such a powerful spark that can touch the hearts of millions…
    cheers!

  80. Thanks for following my blog. I love the idea of The Better Man Project. I have good days and bad like everyone else, but I like to think that I try to better myself whenever I can. Good luck with your project (that sounds weird because that’s basically like saying good luck with your life)! I think what you’re doing is pretty cool.

  81. thanks for following my blog – this is quite a list of things you are – are you sure you need to improve? Just kidding – we all need improvement.

  82. Hey there! You just started following my blog, so I wanted to check out your blog and say, “Hi.” Your project sounds great. The only thing is that I just read your “About Me” and you sound awesome already. Anyway, I’ll poke around more on your blog as I’d love to learn how to be a better woman.

  83. Life works in mysterious ways . (some may call it God, or Allah, or any other name). I started on this exact same quest you are on a few years ago…and for long I wished it happened before. But everything always happens in due time and exactly as it should, right? I couldn’t even pin point the exact moment, but it’s irrelevant. I believe that the reality of it is all that matters. The fact that “that moment” happened. That moment…., “the epiphany” that, through an intricate and extraordinary chain of events, led to THIS…this MOMENT right here, right now. I embrace it with all my heart and soul, and I know you do too. Life …is beautiful ! :)
Keep loving passionately and never quitting! :) What you are doing is absolutely remarkable!!!

  84. Thanks for liking my post and following my blog :)

I have great respect for your personal quest and for making it public, inviting others to be better as well. I see mention of making children laugh, and I hope you sense the profound effect good men have on children, especially the fatherless.

I have a friend who’s little boy’s father is of the ‘deadbeat dad’ genre, and it pains me to see him grow up with this handicap. I wish a better man like you were a mentor in his life, so I hope he gets some good guys to invest in him, and encourage you to wear the mentor mantle with great honor and a sense of incredible privilege.

    Blessings …

  85. Hi Evan,

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the follow! Your blog and video really strike a chord! So, how is it going — have you indeed become a better man? :)

Best of luck wherever your project takes you!

  86. Hi there. I love your work and just wanted to let you know, I’ve nominated your blog for The Very Inspiring Blogger Award. Your posts really resonate with me, as I’m sure they do with a lot of people, so keep ‘em coming! I hope you’ll join in on the fun (: You can find the information here; http://wp.me/p34Y8r-3c

  87. Thanks for the follow. Enjoying your site so far and looking forward to reading more! I am fortunate to have one of those few and far between better men. He wrote a song a few years ago (or started one…) about everyone wanting a good man and how they are hard to find. So true. Hopefully your blog will start a revolution! I get so weary sometimes of all the great helpful stuff for women and the very few things for men, and the fewer men that would even bother to read them.

  88. Greetings Evan,
Terrific job on explaining who you are even though you may not know exactly where you are going. Such is the plight of most thoughtful people. You are correct in that this world does need better men, and I’m glad you’re one of them. I try to be. As a side note, I find it fascinating that your message resonates with so many women…apparently they agree with your message. Keep inspiring and challenging!
    Michael

  89. Thank you for following my blog, your blog philosophy is very inspirational, you hear of lots women attempting self improvement but not so much of men, so power to you! As a finance to a believe the best man in the world it’s so nice to see a man strive for good too :)

  90. Men get a bad rep these days. I’m impressed with your project and i feel your pain. I was an olympic baseball player who had his dreams cut short in the states (I’m from the UK) due to reasons beyond my control.

Out of suffering we see light. Some choose to learn and follow that light. You are one of them. I believe I am too.

Good luck on your journey fellow man. Much love

  91. Well i can say i am very glad you popped by my blog, thanks for following me. Just what i need when i cant sleep something to keep me entertained and so far you blog is doing the trick.

Love your style, can’t wait to read future posts.

    Your newest follower Emmie x

  92. Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog. :) You’re project, I must say, is kinda awesome. We all want to be a better man (or woman) and I think it’s cool that you share your journey with us. It’s inspiring. Anywho, thanks again! :)

  93. Thanks for following my blog. . .best of luck on becoming a better man, although “better” is such a subjective idea. . .judging by your “about” page, better may be a tough accomplishment. . .

  94. I like your unique blog concept. How is the Bucket list for 2013 coming along? It is a great feeling being the best you can be and always working towards being even better!

Thanks for stopping by and following thezendoc and thenakedmd. I’m very new to blogging and really appreciate the support…and any words of blogging wisdom you can lend “the old guy”

    Create a great day!

  100. Ha! What a great idea for a project- and congratulations on your forthcoming book! Thank you for introducing me to your blog- in a world that can be perceived as pretty negative, it’s very nice to support people in their creatively positive efforts at raising consciousness. Thank you!

  101. What an inspiration you are! I love the idea of always striving to be a better version of yourself – to never give up on yourself. Thank you so much for sharing this, you are bringing such light to the world! Thanks also for stopping by my blog. :)

  103. I Like your blog idea, thanks for following mine, I’ll do the same for yours. Love the mini-van comment, if you DO have a team full if children you’re going to need a FULL size van of course! lol

  104. This is very inspiring to read. There are so many similarities between what you say and have achieved and what I want to achieve- I feel like I’m at day one of something I could only dream to be as successful an idea and project as yours has been. I hope maybe one day all this inspiration can help me to follow my dreams of being a better person and leading a better life, just like you have.

  105. Thanks for following my blog. I appreciate it. Yours look interesting too, being a “Better Man”. Something that all should try to be. Unless they are a woman, in which case better woman would probably be better. Either way, will be interested to read about your journey. Sounds like your trip so far has been eventful, fruitful, and interesting.

  106. Thank you for following my blog! The world does indeed need better men (I’ll also say women) – I guess it all depends on your perspective of “better”. I figure we could all improve ourselves on several levels (or several hundred levels in my case…I’m a work in progress!). Good Luck to you!

  107. Hi Evan,

Thank you for stopping by and reading my blog. It’s wonderful to see your passion and it can be seen through each post that you make. I believe you are person of positive influence helping others to see the best that inside of them. Looking forward to reading more of your post :)

  108. Hey Evan,
We have really been enjoying your excellent blog, so we wanted to let you know that we’ve nominated you for The Versatile Blogger Award. The VBA shines the spotlight on bloggers who are adept at creating and handling change – whether it’s their life or the lives of others. We think you’re very versatile!

Please see your award and details on our site. We think it’s a great opportunity to introduce your wonderful blog to more readers. They’re gonna love you!

  109. I absolutely love the concept of your blog. Will be following you to see you cross off things on that bucket list! :)

  110. This is an epic endeavor, sir. There are no worthier goals than striving to be better, making the most of the time you have, and helping those around you. Great work and congratulations on the book.

  111. Your comment: “I collect vinyls, and wish I had a record player” made me laugh out loud. Believe it or not my parents still have a record player (that works) from when I grew up and I look at the montrous thing wondering how they had room for it with the big speakers. Thanks for stopping by!

  112. I almost cried when I read, “The world needs better men. This blog is simply about my journey to become a better man and the things I run into along the way.” Thank you for recognizing something I’ve been thinking for years.

  113. “I want to make a difference in this world and have people remember me as someone who went out with all engines burning. I will never own a mini-van…ever. I will have a baseball team full of children…and do not think that will effect my decision on the mini-van statement.”

Erma Bombeck once said, “When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, ‘I used everything you gave me.'”

And I’m with you on the children thing, except I usually say soccer team, lol. And minivans are undoubtedly from the devil! Thanks for the follow, I was starting to worry I might be talking to the ether.

  123. Thank you so much for following our blog! Sorry it took me so long to respond. I am totally blown away by what you are doing. Fantastic! You are such an inspiration, you have strengthened my resolve to become the person that I want to be. Thanks again. Claudia

  124. Thank you for stopping by and following my blog. It’s appreciated :) What you’re doing id truly amazing, many people around us plan to do such things but never go through with it, it’s good to see that everybody is not the same. Followed you back, Good luck!

  125. Fabulous content! So glad you followed my blog so that I could be led to your blog. You have quite a resume there and should be very proud of all you’ve accomplished thus far. But as a smart person, you realize there is always room for improvement. I’ve been exploring this myself. I look forward to reading your blogs.

  126. I have nominated you for an award in my link below. You might not do this type of thing, but I hope by putting you on my page, it’ll help towards the next 10,000. :)

  128. Great video. I think the opening could be a good promo for blogging generally. It doesn’t have to be about getting lots of people to read your stuff. It is about improving yourself and doing it publicly. Again, really good video. I think I might show it to the youth group at my church.

  129. I think I’m in love:)
No, seriously – it’s absolutely great what you’re doing – I admire your courage and your passion about life, that’s something really rare to be found in people!
I wish you all the best for your journey!!

  130. The mini van I swore I would never buy is in my driveway. Not because my womb overproduced, but I needed it for a road trip to Alaska (better gas mileage). And, well, I love it! Anyway, I like what you write, and I’m going to encourage my son to start thinking about man-ness and read your blog.

  131. Thanks for dropping by my blog! I’m enjoying yours a great deal.
Self-reflection is an important aspect of personal growth, and you talk about things both sexes can learn from. Well done, sir!
Good luck on achieving your goals and I look forward to your future posts.

  142. Thank you Evan for following my blog! I am new to this and I see that there are a lot of interesting pages, like yours, to discover. And I see we have a lot of things in common too, although, I know, I should be a bit more descriptive in my About and profile, but, well, I’ll get there. For now, I’ll read some more. Congrats!

  148. Thank you Evan for following my blog. I am excited to know that my blog found you. Writing has become my passion and it brings so much peace to my chaotic world. I love the promo for your project and absolutely love your creative way of presenting your skill on your résumé…

  149. I found this blog after I got an email that you were following mine. Curious, I checked out your page. It is very similar to what I have started with my blog – focusing on bettering yourself. You are doing amazing work and I can’t wait to read more about your journey.

    Good luck!

  150. Hey Evan –
It’s funny – I started my blog about the same time you started yours – and I happened to be perusing who was following some of my posts and came across you and your site. I really like what I’m seeing and will be looking some more. Best of luck to you in all of your pursuits –

    Take care,

    Tom

  151. Hey, thanks so much for following my blog! I’m kinda impressed you found it, since I can count on 1 hand the number of male followers that I have (although you do mention above that you iron, he hee). ;) Anyways, keep up the good work, and if you’re ever in need of a custom-made shirt, I do take sewing commissions. ;)

  152. This is a cool blog. Glad you helped me discover it. Thanks for dropping by my blog and for deciding to follow me. We need more stuff on the web about men’s issues and becoming a better man.

  153. Great blog! If only more men aspired to be better. Well, not even men, boys. Actually, teenaged boys. And they could use a good lesson on pulling their pants up where they belong, too. Thanks for the follow. Hopefully we’ll be selling books one day soon!

  154. With so much going on your life (and this is quite an impressive list!), it’s a wonder that you have time to respond to comments or visit other blogs… my guess is that it is harder now, than when you started this project! Glad I found your work. Enjoying working my way back… though, this morning I thought I might start at the beginning. :-) Congrats on the upcoming book release and this journey. Really powerful stuff.

  155. Hi Evan! Thank you for checking out my blog and following!! I love your ideas and wish you well on your journey. I too believe the world needs better man, but not only men, better women. My goal for 2013 is to strive to be my best. To better myself, in so many ways. Thank you for your inspiring journey!

  156. Thanks so much for following my blog. It gave me a chance to check out yours. Perfect timing as I am not being a great ‘woman’ at the moment, so this inspires me to be a little better.

  157. Thanks for following Evan. You truly are an inspiration to many. As it goes to say God sends people into our paths for reason, the way you have connected to so many people is truly a work of his Grace. Look forward to continued inspiration.

  158. Hi Evan. Thanks for visiting my blog. I noticed this in your about me page, ” I do not necessarily know where I am going…..” One of Jesus’ disciples said that to him. You should read the reply that He gave to His follower in John 14:6. Scott

  160. Definite high five on your blog, guy. It sounds like we have quite a bit in common. Well, except for my lack of great talent in any particular area and the fact that I’m okay with bell peppers. Totally not cool with spiders though, and I’m very much anti-mini-van as well. Oh, oh. And the quotes. Yeah, that too. Thanks for stopping by my blog. :)

  161. Thank you so much for following my blog! With it being the day before Christmas I don’t have much time for blog reading today but I have followed yours so I can come back. I already know I love the title and the concept and I want to know more about your journey.

  162. Ye gods … is there any room left to comment? No wonder I never get any readers—you’ve hogged ‘em all.

I was going to say that you sound more like me than me—except I’m not afraid of spiders, have never zonked a fly with a screwdriver (bashed some with a hammer, though, does that count?) and when I’m shooting a rifle—as enthusiastic as I may be—the safest place to sit is right in front of the target. To this day no-one knows what happened to at least half of the rounds I’ve squeezed off but it makes good aprés shoot conversation. Guinness and scotch, I like ‘em both (have never tried ‘em in the same glass at the same time; you may have started something there).

And I never made it to a full beard (after four days I kept tripping over it and The Spouse suggested I shave it off).

  163. Evan, I ADORE your blog! I love the concept,I admire just how down to earth you are and how your thoughts and images portray life. I am always on the lookout for people that inspire me,I like how you are a day to day guy that is living life and documenting his inner most thoughts and feelings. All the best! Caterina

  164. Hello! Thanks for following my blog :-)

  167. There is no more noble goal than to improve oneself. By being a better person, the world is made better. “Be the change you want to see in the world.” It doesn’t get any simpler or harder than that. I applaud your efforts and love the whole concept. Off to read more……

  168. Hi! Thank you for following my blog :) It’s really wonderful to meet people who aim at becoming better individuals, so I’m following your blog too! :) I enjoyed reading this About You page and it seems that you’re really taking this journey earnestly. I’m amazed at how much of a Renaissance man you are. How I wish I could be like you one day.

  169. You speak Japanese? Impressive. I lived in Asia for three years and only know enough Mandarin/Canto to get around. Thanks so much for the follow. Great project. Am following.

  170. Oh wow! I just read the About Me section of your blog. (I wonder how many women’s first thought was, “Is he married or does he have a single brother just like him?) Seriously, it’s a wonderful blog and a great project you’ve got going! Thank you for following my blog. I’m very new to this, just jumping into it within the past month. It’s encouraging when people follow.

  171. Wow, you’ve been busy! And from the look of your bucket list you like to stay busy :) It shows what one can accomplish with focus and dedication. Good luck to you, and I hope you find what you are looking for!

  172. Thanks for the follow and I’ll look forward to hearing more from you. I have now walked away twice from good, permanent posts in professional careers (after years of giving them my all), and it is nice to connect with other people who could understand why that might be the right thing for me to do. There’s just so much to do and try in life!

  173. Hi Evan,

Thanks for the follow on my blog http://www.shawnflaherty.com. We are on similar paths it sounds like. Feels pretty good, doesn’t it? YAY!!!

For those who think that life will simply come to them… stop fooling yourselves! YOU need to make it happen for YOURSELF! Live your life fully and do not settle.

    You deserve better, don’t you?

Keep up the good work, Evan. It feels pretty good, eh?

  174. Okay, what can’t you do? You have so much energy that pours out into your writing! *laughing* I feel incredibly lazy! *smiling* and I thought I had energy! *laughing* You have the most interesting about page I’ve come across! Thanks for checking out my blog, love your energy! …….Paula x

  175. Hello! Thanks for following my blog. Looks like we have if not similar, at least comparable goals :)
I love your project and how you describe yourself. Gosh, you seem all over the place :) and definitely not fitting in a box which is really cool. Keep on going! and noce meeting you.

  176. Hi Evan, Thanks for the following, made me find your blog. Enjoy reading it and even better to hear that you are making great progress towards your goal. I will keep checking in to hear more. All the best, Ramona

  177. One of the coolest blogs I’ve come across! Great description of yourself, too; it reminded me of a famous college admissions essay I once read by Hugh Gallagher. Check it out!

  178. Thanks for following my blog. What a great inspiration you are, and congrats on the book. My dream is to publish a book one day. I’ve been writing since I was 15, started with poetry. I’m a medical writer for a continuing medical education company, a field I’ve been in for almost 20 years. To me, my greatest accomplishment is my blog. I write from my heart and it’s a tribute to my mom. Writing has helped me to heal and hopefully I can help others by sharing what I feel after losing my mom. My mom was a good person, big heart, always put others first, even when she was dying from pancreatic cancer. I tried to be more like my mom, but realized that I was me, Kathy, and that I should be myself, but try to be a better version of myself. Sometimes I take one step forward and then two steps back, but I am trying. The best to you.

  179. Evan, I’m delighted to meet you this way. Thank you for connecting and checking out my blog. I look forward to reading more of what you write. See you on Twitter too!

  180. Life begins outside your comfort zone! Congratulations on choosing a higher road on which to travel. Thanks for following my blog – I look forward to following your journey.

  181. I wish you all the best on this amazing journey you are on — and may you be an inspiration to many others who are also looking to be a positive force in this world. Thanks so much for following my blog!

  182. G’day Evan, thanks for dropping by my site. I wandered over here and was very impressed by your approach and candour. Really nice work. Looking forward to following your travels.

  183. Hey Evan–thank you for following my new blog! Not just because it’s nice to know that someone actually reads what you put out there :)…but mostly because since you followed my blog, I in turn found yours…which is wonderful and inspiring…looking forward to reading more about your journey…

  184. Hi Evan, thank you for discovering and following my blog as it has given me the chance to discover and enjoy yours. I will be reading your completed posts and look forward to your new ones. Well done for pursuing such a magnificent goal and being so self aware. My best regards SN

  185. Firstly, thanks for following my blog! I would love to know what you thought of it so that I can improve it more. Secondly, amongst the enormous pile of skills and achievements that you listed, the one that made me the most insanely jealous yet at the same time made me want to make you my best friend was the “I speak Japanese” bit. Please tell me where you acquired such an amazing skill as well as any words of wisdom you would give to otakus like me who are novices in this amazing art.

  186. First I would like to say thank you for following my blog. I took the time to read some of your post and must say that I am impressed by your vision with thebettermanprojects. I will love to continue to see where it goes. I will be following.

  187. Evan, your blog is packed with meaning, such a refreshing place to come. And thanks for following my blog. Very kind of you.

  188. After 63 years and BA and MA in religious studies . I learned all you need to do to be a better person or satisfy deity is never be the sources of anyone’s misfortune and never pass up the opportunity to perform a charitable act. That’s it.

  189. First of all, I’d like to say thank you for following my blog. I came to your blog to see what you were all about, and have to say, that I was inspired by the things you had to say. Your honesty and integrity made me want to know more about who you are as a person. I look forward to getting to know you, and hope that you will continue to get to know me through my words as well.

I also would like to just say a big thank you for just being a kind person. I really hope that your blog exceeds your expectations. There can never be too many kind and thoughtful people in the world.

    Cheers.

  190. I just wanted to say hi and thank you for following my blog. It really means a lot to me. I have looked a little over yours, and plan to look at it even more in the next few days. It looks like you have a really nice blog, and I hope for the best for your book.

  191. Absolutely Fantastic! Looking forward to going through your blog. You seem to be on a similar journey!! YAY for loving life!

  192. I’m all for better men in the world– well, that’s not strictly true. I’m after better people in general. It’s good to see some progress over none, naturally~ and I’m always glad to see self-improvement as a goal.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Evan, and thanks a ton for following. I’ve been a little inactive lately, unfortunately, but one day I’ll be the American novelist too, so it’s nice to see I’m not the only one with that goal in mind. Is it not written, “we are the sum of our goals”? Well if it wasn’t before, it is now.

May all your endeavors be fruitful ones,

  193. What a great thing you are doing. I have been on a similar path as a woman and have learned similar things. Thank you for following my blog. I realized there is so much to learn, when I found out a man in NY can sell plastic cubes of NY Garbage for $50 a whop, and I can’t even sell a hug for free! ha ha

I will never stop learning, never stop growing, never stop changing, never stop wondering. I am fascinated and devastated by life all at the same time. But I will never give up. And I will never give up my passions for anyone else either. That kind of strength is so liberating to me, even though it can be sometimes, the loneliest path ever.

Thank you for being you! May love and inspiration be with you every step of the way. And love, mercy, and compassion for the days you’re crawling. I will be curious to see what other things you’ve said before, or will say later.

    Good luck. :)

  194. Evan,

Hi! john here from the Book of Pain (http://bookofpain.wordpress.com). I got a message the other day that you are following my blog and I wanted to say thank you very much and that I am returning the favor. You need to post more!

I thought your “About Me” post was incredible..very well written.

Keep it up and thank you again!

    john

  195. Having read your introduction and listening to your voice recording I am not sure which I am the lesser of: intrigued or intimidated. The subtle blend of confidence and humility expressed with passionate honesty exposing the vulnerability of innocence is very alluring and reflected by the number of those wanting to follow you in your journey… That said, thank you for visiting and deciding to follow my blog and, to wish you good fortunes would be an understatement.

  196. Um, when do you sleep? I’m thinking you’ll make me look bad… :-)
I’d love to know what you struggle with (besides spiders and bell peppers). Thank you for visiting my blog so I could find yours!

  197. First of all thanks for following my blog, you seem to have quite an inspirational blog yourself, well done and keep on going :)

  198. Hi Evan, thanks for following me! I just watched your video and I have to say that it is truly inspiring! I will follow your blog as well. There needs to be more people like you out there in the world! Have a wonderful day. :)

  199. Thank you so much for visiting my blog and liking my post. This is such a great idea. I think it is a great project for everyone, women too. We should all work to be better.

  200. Thank you for following Soulmate Safari. As I blog to encourage single professional women to never stop finding love because there are great men out there. I wish I could transform every single man out there to be you with my magic wand. You the prototype of the man who my gals are looking for. Confident, unique, funny, go getter….and on and on. And you drink Guinness. I’m sold. Will definitely be checking out your blog in great detail!

  201. Thank you very much for following my new blog, and I would like to wish you all the best with your Better Man project!

  202. Thank you so much for following my blog,Evan! You really do appear to be a Rennaisance Man, definitely something the world needs today. We have something in common: I used to be involved in bodybuilding! I highly recommend it for developing your inner strength along with the physique! Looking forward to reading more from you. :-)

  203. Hi Evan. Thanks for the follow :) I just got round to reading your blog in more detail and I must say I love it. I am finding a lot to be inspired by in these pages, and a few things that I may well write about myself. Keep it up!!

  204. My best wishes to you in what you have undertaken – a very positive step.
Also, I see that you are following my blog Mo-Ments or Idle Thoughts; perhaps it may trigger some thoughts in you.
Here is a relevant extract from my book “The Milk Is White”:

    Observe, Observe, Observe.
Observe others and learn, observe nature and learn but, above all, observe self and learn, for this is one of the main keys to spiritual perfection.
    Ω

  205. Wow, Evan you are truly a role model for all men. Your video was absolutely inspiring and has pushed me to deeply examine why I am writing my own blog even more. It’s wonderful to see talented writers like yourself becoming the change that you want to see in the world. I see great things for you!
I look forward to your posts & thank you for the follow!

  206. Evan,
I am so glad that I saw you had checked out my blog, as it led me back here. I love your writing, and especially the passion and purpose of The Better Man Project! Oh, and the baseball team and no minivan … just live in a small town where you can walk/bike to wherever you want to go … problem solved!
    Carole

  207. Thanks for following the simple cherishes blog, Evan! You have a great blog here, and I can see how you inspire others to as I can tell you are a great learner. All the best for your journey!

  208. Cool premise. A very positive approach to what can be a narcissistic form (blogs). It made me think about writing themes being intertwined with a blog. My blog is more or less a dumping ground for the writing produced in school and leisure. So, there is no unifying theme to it.

    Cheers

  209. I love your short movie explaining your purpose. It is refreshing to hear your commitment to becoming the best you. I too am becoming my happiest self possible. Thank you for following my Blog! Gratitude Dance! :~)

  210. Thanks for following Run it Off, Evan. I appreciate you checking it out. Best wishes on your pursuit; would that more people, not just men, were so inclined. I noticed the one activity missing from your self-description is running…it’s a real test of mental steel if you’re doing it right…you might want to consider it;) Cheers!

  211. “The world needs better men.” That quote alone is worth the price of admission. I’ll give you a try, Evan, and thanks for following my blog.

  212. hey brother, thanks so much for the follow. Really awesome blog you have here, your video about your message is amazing, aswell as your personal description. Honest and real. Keep up the good work!

  213. Hi Evan…thanks for checking out my blog. I totally agree that this world needs stronger men – not more productive or more impressive…more real. I respect your journey, your intentionality and your teachable spirit.

  214. I like very much the way you express yourself, I think I share a lot with you, first and foremost the insomnia bit and love for business and writing.I wish you best of luck.

  215. What a great project. You sound like a very interesting, solid person. I’m looking forward to reading your posts! Thanks for following me!

  216. I appreciate you stopping by my blog and am so glad that you did so it would bring me back here – here’s to there being more and more of us trying to be “better men”

  217. Greetings!

  222. The video is excellent and so brave. Thanks for following Thorn in My Heart. I look forward to reading more of your posts.

  223. I thank you for following me… and, in like minded turn, I’m now following you. Keep the better man project going forward… life itself is the journey we are all on, and there is no better way to do this than have good people by your side. Shalom.

  224. Wow, there is a bottom to this page! ;) Thanks for the follow Evan. Love your stuff, your tude and your vibe. How many of you are there, anyway? Love to you and yours my friend.
    peace

  225. Thanks for following my writing blog Evan! Seems like we are on a similar journey albeit I’m trying to be a better woman. ;-)

  226. Dear Evan,
Just found you here, thanks to your follow on my blog. Thanks!
As for your project, well I am rather at a loss to find words to describe how I feel after reading some of the posts.I am moved, impressed, awed… I have the utmost respect for you. To share in another person’s journey is to learn about life. Writing has always been my savior, and blogging is a way to reach out to the world. Fear be damned. Let all voices be heard!
    Fantastic work! Bravo!

  227. I wanted to say thank you for taking the time to visit with me and deciding to stay for the ride. You are quite the accomplished man and I find it so brave and courageous to share your own journey with the rest of the world. You have, I think, shown the beauty of being humble and I think that being humble and showing humility is such an integral part of being a grand person.

  228. I am so glad I found your blog…or should I say glad you found mine first! I absolutely love this post. I have blogged recently that I feel pretty stuck right now and in need of some inspirations. I really want to let you know just listening to your video and reading your blog has already given me a sense that I am not alone in feeling stuck. I would even say it has given me a bit of inspiration to push myself even more to do and be what I want to. So thank you, and I look forward to reading more.

  229. Evan, I salute you! I’ll be following your journey and I know you’ll achieve your goal. You already have a winning attitude. That’s half the battle won already. Thanks so much for stopping by and following ISLAND VIGNETTES. I appreciate it more than you know.

  230. Awesome! I can identify with your clip so much. You know I was thinking just the other day about how people talk about having a ‘successful blog’. I think as long we keep blogging about our passions and expressing ourselves from the heart space, it will always be sucessful. Whether noone is following, or 5 billiion people are following, it will always be sucessful because through our expression we can see ourselves grow.

I like what you said about when referring to ‘you’, you are really saying ‘me’. Blogs are like online diaries – we just take more care and then intent is a bit stronger, because we are putting it out there into the world!

    Keep shining! :)

    Mel x

  231. Dear Evan,
Thank you, dear friend, for following poetryweekly.wordpress.com. I am so honored (and still puzzled how) you found me. I read your About page and thought how wonderful a man and writer you are. Do you really exist? :)

  239. Absolutely excellent endeavour of self and beyond.

The silent movie was good – had me hooked for the next words. Very inspiring, and very soulful.

    I’m 100% me too, I think….

  245. Wow….that video was so raw and powerful, it brought me to tears. With only a gender difference, I recognize so much of my journey through your words. Fate brings things into your life in strange ways. I’m glad it brought you to my blog and led me back here.

I look forward to reading more of your inspiring words.
    Susan

We all need to be better….

  252. Evan, thanks for following my blog ufigureitoutrelationshipadvice.com
You have a unique voice. Stay true to it. Never go backwards to move forward. It should be an interesting ride “watching” you grow into a better man. – Rigby Rat.
My favorite quote: “The more you carry the past around, the less likely it is that the future will improve.” – Bill Bradley

  253. Really good to see people wanting to change their life for the better not just for themselves

Quite amusing that my blog is more about why and how you should change (but usually you don’t) and yours is about making things happen

You have a lot of personal power everyone does, but you are choosing to use it a bit which is really good to see

    Keep rockin!!!

  254. Thank you for the follow at “Through The Cracked Window”, It means a lot to me. I have looked at some of your posts and truly like what you have to say. Stephen (Stoic)

  255. Thank you for the follow on my blog, “The Alzheimer Roller Coaster”, I must say that reading your blog first thing in the morning, made the start of my day with a smile and a happy note. I know I will be following you for your uplifting comments. I know I have a wonderful husband, and it is reassuring to know that there are other wonderful men out there as well. I absolutely LOVED your quote page!!! I will be referring to it often. Have a great day!

  256. Hi Evan, thanks for following my blog. I hope to read so much about this project of yours. The world indeed needs more people like you. :)

  257. Evan, I believe we are kindred spirits. You are right, the world does need better men, and it heartens me considerably to read your blog. And, it is exactly what I am doing with my blog!

  259. I always try to do follow-backs, and I was truly glad that I did. This is an amazing blog, created from a truly amazing idea far as I am concerned. I look forward to seeing what is to come.

  260. Your blog is truly inspirational! I look forward to following you on your journey and learning a few things along the way. Thanks for the follow. PS I will never own a mini van either!

  261. Hello Evan, thanks for following my blog. You have a great blog here, with lots of passion in it. Keep it up! Hope to see more posts from you. God bless.

  262. Always wanted a white wrap-around porch. Even on two sides of the house would be great (front and side). Like your profile, but I do own a mini-van and try to look cool when driving it.

  263. Simply Stellar! I love the project, the intent and the pure passion behind it. And I am sooo with you on the whole minivan thing:) Have two boys and haven’t caved yet;) I appreciate your reaching out and following lifeschoolinc and thephoneboothproject. I’ve posted this amazing page on StumbleUpon and I can only hope even more find you. Look forward to the ride ahead! jennifer

  264. Your blog is incredibly impressive. Love what your doing and the guts you have to lay it all out there. All the best! P.S. I’m following you on Twitter now. See you there. :)

  265. Yours is an inspirational blog – I’m very glad to have connected with you and I’m looking forward to seeing how you get on in your quest. Best of luck – and I think you’re a better man just by being wise enough to begin a project like this. Well done. SJ :)

  266. Your project sounds absolutely amazing, the world needs definitely better people and I am so glad to see that there are people like you who really try to be good. I read all your ‘about’ page and you seem such an interesting person! I can’t wait to explore your blog!

  267. Nice video. I’m glad you worked through the pain to find your passion. I can relate to the bit about being a slight pyromaniac. Had I not caught the bathroom trash on fire and singed the bathroom at age six, I might have gotten more daring. I didn’t play with fire after that :)

  268. You are absolutely amazing at describing yourself, which I am sure it all must be true :-p

Thank you for following me and I hope we will be connecting very often. I will definitely be checking your material more often!

    Love & Light,
    Moon

  269. Thanks for stopping by my blog and following! We definitely need more ‘better men’…I don’t know how old you are, but I am in my ‘second half of life as a woman and I can say ‘good men are hard to find’. So keep at it. We all need to be the best we can be all the time! :)

  270. I love your blog! I think it is a fantastic, inspirational, and worthwhile idea to pursue, and I appreciated your artistic video as well. I hope you get to accomplish all of your goals, and it’s nice that you are also encouraging so many readers out there to live life to the fullest. Many people aren’t as positive as you are, so it’s nice to read your uplifting posts! I wish you the best of luck and will be on the look out for your book too.

  271. Funny, heartfelt, honest… ‘I do not necessarily know where I am going, but I know who I am going to be when I get there’. I hear you on that one – thanks for the follow btw. Cheers, Jen

  272. Wow~ that may be the best “about me” page I have seen and maybe the best I am yet to see. It was funny, intellectual and I love that you are smart and into fitness. You forgot to add “one who breaks stereotypes” to your list. You may find several of my posts interesting~ but these two to start.
The Better Man Project~ great concept. Still better men deserve better women. Haha!

  273. Thanks for following The Sound of Wisdom.

From the description you have at the top of this page, it seems you’re already there! What else do you want? Maybe you need to start looking at something beyond normal human experience. Delve into a realm of endless possibilities, not bound by space-time or cause-effect.

You mentioned that you are a “social Darwinist”? What does that mean? If it meant following Darwin’s materialistic vision of the universe, then you wouldn’t be able to step beyond what the mind perceives, based on data feeds from the five senses.

    All the Best,

  274. …you had me at..”…just trying to be a better man…” -Gulp! Love it and love this blog. Thanks for showing the love on mine! Excited for you book and more entries.

  275. LOVE this Evan! Quite a man already…… Very inspiring.

Where can I gain access to the awe-inspiring music playlists though?!?!

  276. Cheers for the follow, means a lot! Your blog looks great I am definitely going to check it out when it isn’t 2:25am haha.
    Thanks!

  277. As someone who is a firm believer in “Looking beneath the surface” this blog is definitely one of a kind. Kudos to you for being cellophane and sharing your life with the world. Bless you on your journey and I will be following you and adding your blog to my blogroll.

  278. Okay Evan:
I am really amazed at how you found the time to even gather a glimpse at my 1-day site and decide to follow it.

I see that you are a man with a vision on a mission and I applaud that. With the amount of writing and other things you do how do you find the time to read the posts from the sites you follow?

I’m going to nickname you “Superman”.
Thanks for the follow; I won’t keep you any longer. I’m sure you have some tall building to leap over on your way to becoming a Better Man :-)

    All the Best,

    ~FYNALLE

  279. Indeed, the world needs better men and women… I am happy to know that you embarked on this project… Am sure though you will be faced with a lot of difficulties at times, there is always strength for the journey – an oasis of sorts – that we somehow stumble upon exactly when we needed it. Thank you following my blog. See you at the end of our project or journey! :)

  280. Very nice! As an avid Lego aficionado, I like the part about you being a Lego architect. It is the one toy that no matter how old you are, you can still enjoy, create, and build. I suppose there are other toys like that but Legos are so versatile.

  281. Hi Evan – thank you for following my blog. I read every word of your ‘about me’ and I can so relate to you. I am doing much the same. I look reading more of your posts! :-)

  282. Hi Evan! Create your emotions instead of being defined by them – beautiful! Thank you so much for introducing me to your wonderful blog. You are an inspiration!

  283. Well Evan, that’s quite a line-up you’ve posted here. I was particularly impressed with the holiday dinners… :) Thanks for the “Follow” and I loved, loved the Chief Tecumseh’s words of wisdom. Very inspiring. I shall write my own burial song.

  284. I normally do not read a full “about” page. I normally skim over it and get an idea of who the person is, but I have to say I enjoyed reading your about page and you know yourself WELL!!

Thanks for trying to be a better man in this world and thank you for stopping by Always First Athletics blog.

I look forward to reading your blog!

  285. Thank you for following our blog. I wanted to ask you, if you would be interested in being a guest expert on one of our upcoming Thursday blogs’.

Our blog is a unique blog with different topics to look forward to daily, in which we look to have guest bloggers provide content on a subject they possess expertise in (almost like an “Ask the Expert”).

    http://thebradwayblog.wordpress.com/

If you are interested, please email me a brief bio, a paragraphs blog topic, and a profile picture within the next week. There is no particular topic, just a topic that will be beneficial to all readers and that is based off of your experience, expertise, and/or learning experience within your own business.

I hope you will consider this opportunity and potentially be one of our upcoming guest bloggers.

    Heather

  286. Thanks for following my blog and I am not following your blog as I want to be “better man as well”!! I didn’t realize it until I read yours but maybe my recent posts are about me trying to be better and I didn’t see that until you followed mine, thank you!!

  287. Thank you for stopping by my little corner of the web! So glad you did – you are inspiring and I can’t wait to read more of your wise words. Best to you!

  288. Its been said before on here, but your writing really is inspirational. Its fantastic to see someone taking such a simple ideal and running with it. Successfully too I might add! Will endeavour to be a ‘better woman’ from now on. Or at the very least, to be conscious of becoming a better person ;) Thanks again and thanks for your follow on my blog :)

  289. A NICE PROFILE. I WISH YOU TO SUCCEED IN YOUR MISSION.
MY SINCERE THANKS FOR FOLLOWING ME. I TOO FEEL LIKE RECIPROCATING YOUR GESTURE, AND I AM FOLLOWING YOURS WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT. LET US BE FRIENDS.

  290. Hello Evan,
Your about page is fascinating and I truly look forward to future posts from you. I am leaving now to go check out your Twitter and today’s blog post. I could do with some inspiration; I’m looking forward to a long, productive evening of writing and inspiration is always helpful. :)

  291. Very honored that you would follow my blog Evan – It’s such a great reflection for me and knowing that I’m moving in the right direction with my own work. There is so much beauty here and I look forward to reading more. Best, Lisa

  292. Wow. Thank you for checking out my blog. If you read into it a bit, we are a lot alike. Love it, and thank you for letting me know you exist. You seem like an awesome person and I just became super inspired reading your blog. Look forward to more of your stuff and getting to know you better hopefully. Oh, and Good Luck on your goals, you extra got this!

  293. Thank you, Evan, for following “Oceantics”, which led me here to watch your video and follow you. A few months ago, I wrote a little poem called “Someone Has to Start”.

    If the world
    were filled with good
    women who see good
    men, the world we think
    we see would be
    no more.

You are one of those good men.

  294. OS, truth, you been reading my mail, you been speaking my words, singing my song,
you don’t sound as old as me but wiser, I’ll log off now and get back to PASSION,
    thanks man,

  295. Hi Evan!

This is a great cultivation of ideas, inspiration, and the mission you seek to accomplish. Thank you for following me and I look forward to glean from your thoughtful life.

    Keep it real,
    rheggie

  296. Evan,
A beautiful about me page and video. We share a number of things in common, although I’m guessing that everyone shares at least one thing in common with your list.
I’m curious why you don’t show your face in the video, but tell so much about yourself in the “about me”? You paradoxically undress yourself without revealing who you are.

  297. oh my goodness i absolutely love this! if you are able to read more of my posts, youll see i feel the same way! i love the focus of your blog, im already learning from it :) thank you for stopping by and taking a look at mine :)

  298. Wow! I’m still flabbergasted after reading “About Mw” and your video explaining about how your blog got started. Great writing style. If you ever write a book, let me know. I would be your first person to buy one.

Will return to see what else is on the table.

    Best of luck,

    Omaar.-

  299. Thanks for following my blog! It’s always nice to know there are people out there who are more concerned with bettering themselves than berating others. :)

  300. Hi Evan!

Thanks for following my blog, and leading me to yours. The Better Man Project is a great concept, and you’ve done a lot with it already!

    ~All the best, Rob

  301. Hi! Thanks for following my blog. It really means a lot to me. I was just going through some of your posts and even though, we have a big age difference we are somewhat alike and share the same thoughts. I can relate a lot to your posts and honestly, you have great ideas, goals, and purposes. I want to thank you for following me because otherwise, I would’ve never gotten to see your blog. Please, keep writing. Your work is very inspiring to people like me.

  302. You’re definitely right about one thing. The world does need better men. :P Most of the guys (the ones I know at least) have settled for just being “good boys”. Thanks for the follow and the instant inspiration out of your blog. Good luck on your pursuit. :)

  303. Thank you for finding my blog and leading me to here! I love this post and the video, will explore further as time alots!
    You are fantastic!!!

  304. Enjoying your blog! And thank you for following mine. It seems like we kind of had similar ideas, and as someone who is very new to this whole thing, it’s inspiring to see it has been fruitful for someone else :) I hope my small endeavor works out as well as yours has for you!

  305. Thank you for following! You’re blog idea is great. I’m also trying to make myself a better person. I will look forward to reading your posts. :)

  306. Hi! I love to collect LP’s especially from artists I don’t now, exploring music, worlds, vibes! The record player is my portal to my wonderland. Fantastic way of life, enjoy your journey!

  307. What a great idea, so many guys need to adopt this attitude to become better men, I find so many things that guys do and then try to play the “boys will be boys” type of excuses, plain disrespectful, we need more good men. kudos to you sir !

  308. Evan- love the bettermanproject idea. I too have felt “stuck” before. It doesn’t feel good- it’s all about creating the movement and getting the mind and spirit going again, looks like you did just that! Thanks for the follow.

  309. Thanks for stopping by my little blog! I love what I found here, and love even more that you’ve been at it for at least 303 days. Thanks for sharing this with the world…it really does need better men (and women). Best of luck to you!

  310. So, I thought men like you didn’t exist!! (besides my husband of course….yeah right, he wishes!) You seem too good to be true, I look forward to finding out more about this journey you are on.

  311. Excellent biography! Loved it! :) After engaging in the mankind project here in Perth, Australia and engaging with some insightful University material it very much re-emphasised to me the essential need for ‘greater’ people on this Earth. Men in particular. Why? because unfortunately a lot of the sociocultural and ecological unrest that we see today was or is continued to be caused by men. We must reconnect with nature, the feminine and ourselves. We are inherently good and the first step to realising this truth is becoming self aware and blogs as honest as this can be inspirational for others to also connect deeper with themselves and tread the path of self awareness!

Great blog! Wonderful enthusiasm! I wish yo the best and thank you for looking through my blog, I hope you continue to enjoy it… :) SS.

  312. I absolutely love this! It is literally how I feel — the day to day endeavour to be a better woman. I feel like I learn new things about myself all the time, how to deal with situations that before would have had very different (often negative) outcomes, because of my initial reactions.

I’m so happy that you stopped by and decided to follow my page as well. It’s always nice to know that we’re not on this journey of continuous and crucial moments of insight, alone :).

  313. Hey Evan,

Thanks for following me. Your project/concept is very inspiring. I am in a similar process of self-discovery. It’s refreshing to know that there are people out there who are passionate about self-reflection and personal development in spite of the countless distractions and avoidance enablers which exist in our society. It’s much easier to latch onto external whims than it is to sit down and take stock of areas for growth within oneself. And it seems like you understand that and have made great progress.

    Cheers,

    -Dustin

  314. I think your mission is wonderful and I wish you all the luck in your endeavor. It may not be explicitly stated, but I am also striving to improve myself as a human being via my blog. Blogging is such a wonderful medium for self-improvement and self-empowerment. SO to that I say, blog on! I look forward to reading your future entries.

  315. Evan,

I think I’ve typed up and deleted about 15 paragraphs by now, but I’ll keep it short and sweet: You might possibly be the most fascinating person I’ve ever met.

Although, I’m automatically predisposed to like those who despise minivans…

Congrats on your project and best of luck with your blogging career, you are most certainly off to an amazing start!

    – Katie

  316. Greetings, Evan.

Thanks for the follow! I enjoyed your “All about me” page and video for your project. It’s nice to meet others who are not only trying to better themselves, but the world, too, in the process. I’m looking forward to reading more of your stuff. :) It seems we share similar views on many, many things.

  317. Thanks much for following my blog; it seems we’re writers with similar intent. Your dedication to the project is inspiring, and I look forward to reading more about your inner journey. :)

  318. Hi Evan,

Thank you, for stopping by my blog and becoming a follower. I must say after seeing your blog and getting a better understanding of your goal I am honored. I think your blog is wonderful and the whole concept is just plain Right On! We all should strive to be better people, but we do need some better men and I am so happy you have started on this journey of sharing and inspiring others. I will also, share this with other guy friends I know and maybe it will convince them to becoming better men as well. :) Keep your passion flowing. I am looking forward to seeing more.

  319. Hey there! Okay, you need a turntable, most definitely. I am so not worthy when it comes to baking pies, well done!! I’m glad you’re not a drowning surfer, and go for it with that novel-writing. :)

So much more I could say, but I’ll thank you for following my writing blogs, and so hope you enjoy the posts.

  320. Thanks for following, I seem to be ‘collecting’ Americans for some reason…
You appear to be leading a very active and diverse lifestyle, the opposite to my own. Good luck with all your projects, and best wishes for the future. -Pete.

  321. Hi there! Thank you for stopping by my blog and then for following, I feel pretty honoured :) I’m also really glad you stopped by as it has allowed me to find your blog. What a fantastic life pursuit, its so wonderful and refreshing to see someone who genuinely wants to be better themselves not just for the positive effect it will have on their own life, but for the positivity it can bring to others. Sometimes I think we forget that we do have the ability to create change in the world just by being better people, and that we don’t have to be influential powerful people in society to achieve greatness, that just by living and fostering kindness, encouragement and support with our fellow man we are already achieving it. You’ve brought so many people together and shared a fantastic ideal and message with them, you should be very proud. I look forward to your next posts and also trying to live a little better everyday myself :) Thank you x x x
