Rise Up And Be An Outlier

Our natural tendency is to want to fit in.

To avoid being different.

To not want to step on anyones toes.

The world doesn’t want us to be anything but living in the curve because that’s the safe zone.

The zone where a majority of everyone else is as well.

The zone that will keep you doing, being, and acting average.

Normal is death.

There comes a point in everyone’s life where they just want to be normal. To fit in. To be accepted by the group.

I tried that. I tried that a few times. Want to know what I learned from trying to be like everyone else?

1. It’s impossible. 2. It’s just boring.

Why would you want to be anything but yourself?

You were born and given the most unique gifts in the world that no one else has in the same combination as you. I say leverage what you are good at, work on what you are bad at and dream.

Dream greatly. Live daringly. Speak kind words and inspire the hearts of others.

Be anything but normal.

Be strange.

Be weird.

Be outrageous.

Be you.

Love this! We all “want” to be accepted by everyone else, when really all we need to do is accept ourselves and appreciate those that love us for whoever we are! The status quo is meant to be broken…

    Excellent. Well stated.
Life, like a sweet song will hum along. Nothing looks lifeless. Everything is animated by the Spirit-Force. All our efforts will be crowned with success and glory.

I have a question. What do you do if people simply don’t “get” you? For example, my wife says I have a dry sense of humor. Some of my in-laws say the same thing. From my perspective, they don’t seem to “get” me, to understand me. Which makes me wonder if I should change somewhat to meet their standards or just keep plugging along the way I am. I am one of those that actually loves their in-laws (We’re a rare breed.) and I don’t want to alienate them.

‘Normal is dead’ that statement is the one of the few statements that has made an impression in my heart this year. … Thank you very much Evan.

If we pursue our individuality, as you promote, than “normal” becomes a personal experience, rather than socially defined construct. No need to try to conform to other’s standards. Keep dreaming.
    Happy New Year
