Sometimes
We have to hold
The people we love
With an open palm
So they can fly away
And if it is right again
They can come back to us
Sometimes
We have to hold
The people we love
With an open palm
So they can fly away
And if it is right again
They can come back to us

October 30, 2013 at 12:45 amSo true. Very true. We can never make people do anything out of love. Manipulation, lying, pleading, abuse, threats, trickery – admittedly these things might work, but they are never the ingredients of love, and will never end well for either party. There is truth behind the saying “love hurts”, but humans have never been very good at sacrifice. We have to renew our minds every day and choose to love, and choose love over ourselves. It does not come naturally.

October 30, 2013 at 3:41 amThe only way to love someone is not to suffocate them with our grip but welcome them with open heart so that you both have a sense of ease. It is funny how the concept of ultimate freedom is not to hang on, but to let go.

October 30, 2013 at 4:52 amThis is very true. In a song by the Everly Brothers, there are the lyrics, “The Greatest Love is the love that can let you go”

October 30, 2013 at 8:47 amVery true. I am also finding out that sometimes, though it is the last thing we can imagine at the time, it is a good thing for them to fly away and never come back.
