Respect

I absolutely love this song. What a great message. I have been fortunate enough to go through some great learning points this week. I had the chance to see what situations really test me, and how I react to them. Overall, it was a fantastic week. For the longest time, I have been lucky enough to really go on without any significant amount of disrespect shown towards me. However, this week, that wasn’t the case. At first glance, I took it a little bit personally, but then realized after a bit of just sitting down and thinking about it, disrespect other people are showing towards you is not a reflection of your character at all. It is entirely a reflection of theirs. So we move on don’t we. People come and people go…but I think that the world would be a better place if there was a little bit more respect floating around.

It’s about going the extra mile for someone if they are worth it to you. So, in light of this past weeks learnings, I am going to do my utmost to give respect to those around me. Not that I don’t do this in the first place, but I am going to try a little bit harder. Because one of the best feelings in the world is being on the other end when someone really shows respect towards you. In light of all of the graduation ceremonies and people freaking out about what they are going to do with their whole entire life…I am going to keep my cool and know that I put the hard work in and prepared for this moment. The walking across the stage is the reward…not the test.

I am looking forward to this next big leap. I have been waiting for this moment for a long time. I can’t wait to build on it.

And don’t forget ladies and gentlemen…a little bit of respect goes a long way. Put the ego in a box…and get vulnerable. That type of honesty makes the world go round.

Lovely post. You are so right. The way other people show up is nothing to do with us, it is all about them. But to really internalise this, we need to develop much higher awareness of our inner beliefs. Shakti

Have to agree Shakti, Some do not think of respecting others, but it is important as we our self`s want to be respected. Respect is earned.

Whatever happens around you, don’t take it personally… Nothing other people do is because of you. It is because of themselves. All people live in their own dream, in their own mind; they are in a completely different world from the one we live in. When we take something personally, we make the assumption that they know what is in our world, and we try to impose our world on their world.

Even when a situation seems so personal, even if others insult you directly, it has nothing to do with you. What they say, what they do, and the opinions they give are according to the agreements they have in their own minds…Taking things personally makes you easy prey for these predators, the black magicians. They can hook you easily with one little opinion and feed you whatever poison they want, and because you take it personally, you eat it up….

‘It’s about going the extra mile for someone if they are worth it to you.’

    Amen (times a million)

This is exactly it. If someone or something is worth it to you, you will go that extra mile. No matter how much it hurts you in the process, no matter how little you might get in return, just no matter what. It it’s worth it, you will do it. Thanks for this post – enjoyed it.
