Thomas Edison, one of the most famous inventors in history, failed at creating the lightbulb thousands of times. But the story is actually much cooler than his efforts in trying to create the lightbulb.
Edison was actually asked to leave his school because he was slowing the other kids down at a young age, and every job he held he would get fired at. But you know what, he found a dream and a purpose for living every day, and I am sure glad he did it. He tried over and over and over again…and said SCREW THE CRITICS! which is something I also want to talk about tonight.
If you are being dragged down by the people who say you can’t or who are making fun of you because you are always in the gym or always studying because you have certain goals that you want to accomplish, you might want to read the next paragraph.
I encourage you to completely shut your ears to those who say you can’t do something.
The reason why they are saying you can’t is because they can’t and they don’t want to see you succeed because it just makes them look at their life and feel like crap. They are going to try to drag you down as much as possible and level your dreams…so they they can match their crushed ones. But keep showing up every day.
Keep trying your hardest…and keep your mouth shut. Lead by example, not by words. Talk is cheap…really freaking cheap.
Anyone can say anything these days and hide behind a computer or a text or anything else like that. Rarely will you confront the people who tell you directly to your face that you can’t do something or that you can’t be who you want to be. To put it plainly, no one has the balls to do that. So you keep try ing! You keep giving your heart and when you finally get to the place you want to get, those who were talking about you and telling you no, will look to you for inspiration.
That is how it works. You must fight the normality of the status quo before you reach great heights. You have to go through that phase. Because if you aren’t failing, you aren’t trying hard enough. For a while I felt like I was floating around in the gym and working but not sweating hard.
Well, hell, you should see me now and some of the workouts I am doing. I have to lay down or sit down on the ground after some of the sets I am doing because I am absolutely exhausted. I am giving everything I have to anything because I love that satisfaction of just knowing I crushed it.
That attitude will also make you present with the people in your life. Give the person you are with 100% of you. If something is on your mind, tell them. Get people involved in your life. You only have one, and you should see how many lives you can touch out there. Tell those who don’t believe in you to get lost and find someone else to try to suck the life out of. Your dreams are impossible to break.
Work backwards with your goals. Write out all your goals on a piece of paper, and work backwards by finding out step by step what you are going to have to do from Z – A.
This has helped me a ton lately because it makes me think in a different way. One of my goals is to write here every single day and to help inspire people to just keep trying every day. Keep those irons in the fire. The more you throw against the wall, the better your chances are of something sticking. So keep your heart into it.
That big quote from Roosevelt above, that’s the real deal. Just keep getting into the ring and fighting for your life. This is your one and only life and that is all that really matters.
There is no tomorrow, there is only you right now. I am going to post something I made a long time ago when I was really motivated about my life. Hopefully you like it too.

Go out there and shine a light into the world with your dreams. You can do anything, you just have to want it enough.
